Local high schools finished in the medals at the huge Metro regional track and field meet held at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke last week.
Top finishers from this meet, attended by Toronto District School Board and Toronto Catholic District School Board schools, as well as area private schools, qualify for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) provincial championships which are being held in Hamilton June 5 to 7.
A double gold medal haul was turned in by Tristan Lewis-Vu of Eastern Commerce Collegiate in the junior men's long jump and triple jump.
Individual gold medals were won by Adelaide Johnson of Riverdale Collegiate in senior girls 800m and Sheila Paulin of Malvern Collegiate in midget girls shotput.
Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School won two relay gold medals with both its junior and midget girls teams winning their respective 4x100m races.
Malvern Collegiate athletes excelled in the 3000m distance race with three silver medals earned by Hailey Cummings in senior women, Sally McIntyre in midget women and Oliver Foster in junior men.
Malvern's Iman Blackman earned bronze in both senior women's sprint events, the 100m and 200m.
Notre Dame's Euchelle Millena earned bronze in the midget women's discus.
