Here are recent results from Toronto-area athletes at the Beijing Olympics
• After leading 1-0 with under 10 seconds to go against Russian Alim Gadanov in a repechage that would have sent the winner to the bronze medal match, 22-year-old Sasha Mehmedovic of North York was penalized for a point for a false attack, sending the match into a Golden Score. Another point earned by the Russian in the extra time ended the Olympics for Mehmedovic.
• In the 49er class, Toronto native Gordon Cook and crew Ben Remocker of Vancouver stand 15th among 19 entered after three races. They finished 13th, 12th and 13th for 38 points, well behind leading Great Britain (12 points) and Italy (13).
• In the Yngling class, a couple of low finishes dropped the boat skippered by Toronto's Jennifer Provan from second position after the first day into 12th place among the 15 competitors. Provan, sailing with Toronto's Martha Henderson and Katie Abbott of Sarnia, Ont., finished 10th and 15th in their two races after fifth- and fourth-place finishes in Saturday's opening two races.
• In rowing the men's lightweight four of Mike Lewis and Iain Brambell of Victoria, Liam Parsons of Thunder Bay and Jon Beare of Toronto were second today and move on to the semi-finals on Thursday.
• Michael Winter, Toronto, riding King Pin, placed 28th of 70 riders in the eventing individual dressage while the Canadian team finished the day in ninth spot. Winter will compete in eventing individual cross country Monday.
• Swimmer Savannah King of Toronto was eliminated with a fifth-place time of 4.11.49 in her heat of the 400M freestyle.
